Salah scores twice as Egypt qualify for 2026 FIFA World Cup

Mohamed Salah scored twice as Egypt secured a 3-0 win over Djibouti on Wednesday, clinching their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup with one match remaining in the qualifiers.

The Pharaohs opened the scoring in Casablanca when Zizo delivered a cross that Ibrahim Adel headed home. Salah then doubled the lead by converting a through ball, before adding a late volley to seal the victory, FIFA reported.

Ghana also moved closer to qualification, defeating their opponents in El Jadida. Mohammed Salisu, Thomas Partey, Alexander Djiku, Jordan Ayew, and Kamaldeen Sulemana were among the scorers as Ghana took a commanding position in their group.

Cabo Verde drew 3-3 with Libya but remain top of their section, while Cameroon remain in contention. Angola, Comoros, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, and Sierra Leone have been eliminated from the qualifiers.

Egypt and Ghana will now prepare for their final group-stage matches, with both sides aiming to consolidate their World Cup spots.
