Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, will embark on an official visit to Berlin, Germany, from October 23, aimed at strengthening India’s economic and trade partnership with the European nation. The visit assumes added significance as 2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the India–Germany Strategic Partnership, highlighting the long-standing and resilient bilateral ties, the Ministry of Commerce said.
During his visit, Goyal is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with German government officials, industry leaders, and business associations to explore avenues for enhanced trade and investment cooperation. Key engagements include meetings with Katherina Reiche, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs & Energy, and Dr. Levin Holle, Economic and Financial Policy Advisor at the Federal Chancellery and Germany’s G7 & G20 Sherpa. Discussions will focus on deepening the Indo–German economic partnership and identifying new areas for collaboration.
The Union Minister will also meet Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Luxembourg, to discuss bilateral trade relations, Luxembourg’s forthcoming State Visit to India, regional developments, and key international issues.
As part of the visit, Goyal will participate as a panellist at the third Berlin Global Dialogue (BGD), an annual summit convening leaders from government, business, and academia to deliberate on global economic trends. He will take part in the session “Leaders’ Dialogue: Growing Together – Trade and Alliances in a Changing World,” focusing on strategies to enhance market access and build a sustainable global trading ecosystem.
The Minister will hold one-on-one meetings with CEOs of leading German companies, including Schaeffler Group, Renk Vehicle Mobility Solutions, Herrenknecht AG, Infineon Technologies AG, Enertrag SE, and Mercedes-Benz Group AG. He will also chair a roundtable with leaders of German Mittelstand companies and meet representatives of the Federation of German Industries (BDI) and the Asia-Pacific Association of German Business (APA) to foster investment and business-to-business linkages, particularly in sectors promoting sustainability, innovation, and advanced manufacturing.
