Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inspects State-of-the-Art Yatri Suvidha Kendra at New Delhi Railway Station

Union Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, on Saturday inspected the newly constructed Yatri Suvidha Kendra at New Delhi Railway Station, a modern facility designed to accommodate around 7,000 passengers and enhance comfort during the festive season travel surge.

The minister announced that similar Yatri Suvidha Kendras will be developed at other railway stations across the country to improve passenger experience. “This state-of-the-art facility will provide greater comfort to passengers, especially during the festive season when passenger volume surges,” Vaishnaw said.

The Kendra is strategically divided into three zones—Pre-Ticketing (1,218 sqm), Ticketing (2,860 sqm), and Post-Ticketing (1,150 sqm)—to streamline passenger movement and reduce congestion. It features 22 ticketing counters, 25 Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs), seating for 200 passengers, 18 High Volume Low Speed (HVLS) fans for cooling, a dedicated toilet block (652 sqm), and an RO-based drinking water system.

For passenger convenience and safety, the Kendra is equipped with advanced amenities, including a public announcement system with 24 speakers, three LED train information displays, and a modern fire-fighting system with seven units. Security measures include 18 CCTV cameras, five luggage scanners, and five Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMD).

The construction, managed by Northern Railway, overcame challenges such as relocating utilities like water lines, drainage systems, and optical fiber cables, and demolishing existing structures without disrupting station operations. Additionally, an extension of Foot Over Bridge 1 (FOB 1) was completed to enable seamless connectivity to the Metro Station, reducing platform congestion.
