Vice President Radhakrishnan praises labour reforms, youth empowerment and sports promotion initiatives

Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Tuesday lauded the Government’s recent initiatives in labour reforms, youth empowerment, and sports development during a meeting with Union Minister of Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State for Labour & Employment Shobha Karandlaje and Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse at Parliament House.

The Vice-President was briefed on key policy measures and programmes being implemented by the Ministry of Labour & Employment to ensure decent working conditions, enhance workers’ quality of life, and strengthen social security. Major reforms such as the E-Shram Portal, Shram Suvidha Portal, Pradhan Mantri Vikshit Bharat Rozgar Yojana and National Career Service Portal were highlighted as part of the Ministry’s efforts to simplify labour laws and boost employment generation.

Expressing satisfaction with these initiatives, the Vice-President praised the Ministry’s focus on inclusive economic growth through improved social security, occupational safety, and harmonious industrial relations.

He was also briefed on major youth-focused programmes aimed at harnessing the potential of young people for nation-building. Key initiatives such as the National Youth Policy, Mera Yuva Bharat Portal (MY Bharat), National Service Scheme, Youth Hostels and National Youth Awards were discussed. The MY Bharat platform was noted as a significant tool for digitally connecting youth and promoting participatory nation-building activities.

The Vice-President particularly appreciated the MY Bharat initiative for fostering youth engagement and highlighted the role of youth exchange programmes in promoting cultural understanding and strengthening the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.

Officials also outlined several innovative engagement initiatives including the Youth 20 Summit, Meri Maati Mera Desh, Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025, Diwali with MY Bharat, and Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat.

The briefing further covered the Ministry’s major sports initiatives such as Khelo India, Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), Assistance to National Sports Federations, Khelo Bharat Niti, and the “One Corporate One Sport” CSR model.

The Vice-President praised the achievements of Indian athletes -especially women – on global stages such as the Olympics and Paralympics and welcomed the growing role of the corporate sector in sports promotion. He also commended efforts to host major international sporting events in India, stating that such initiatives would boost sports infrastructure, inspire young talent, and strengthen India’s position as a rising global sporting nation.
