The 17th meeting of the India-Israel Joint Working Group (JWG) on Defence Cooperation was held on Tuesday in Tel Aviv, co-chaired by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defence Maj Gen (Res) Amir Baram.
During the meeting, both sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Defence Cooperation aimed at providing a unified vision and policy direction to further strengthen bilateral defence ties. The MoU identifies key areas of collaboration, including strategic dialogues, training, defence industrial cooperation, research and development, technological innovation, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. It also facilitates sharing of advanced technology and promotes co-development and co-production initiatives.
The JWG reviewed ongoing defence cooperation and acknowledged the mutual benefits derived from the partnership. Discussions also focused on potential areas for future collaboration in technology and operational capabilities, along with shared challenges such as terrorism, reaffirming the collective resolve of both nations to address security threats.
