19th WAVES Film Bazaar to showcase global co-production market in Goa

The 19th edition of WAVES Film Bazaar, previously known as Film Bazaar, will be held in Goa from November 20 to 24 alongside the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). The annual film market will take place at the Marriott Resort and will feature a strengthened Co-Production Market for feature films and documentaries.

This year’s edition will present 22 feature projects from India and abroad, including entries from France, the UK, Canada, the US, Russia, the Philippines and Singapore. The selected films span a wide range of languages such as Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Manipuri, Tangkhul, Nepali, Malayalam, Haryanvi, English, Gujarati, Ladakhi, Konkani, Kannada, Marathi, Punjabi, Kashmiri, Russian, Sanskrit and Odia. Filmmakers will pitch their projects to producers, distributors, festival programmers, financiers and sales agents during an open session, followed by one-on-one meetings.

Five documentary projects have also been selected, covering themes related to culture, the environment, gender, education, sustainability and anthropology.

This year’s lineup features both emerging filmmakers and established industry figures, including Kiran Rao, Vikramaditya Motwane, Shakun Batra, Devashish Makhija, Ira Dubey, Sarita Patil, Shaunak Sen and BAFTA-winning director Ben Crichton.

WAVES Film Bazaar has also announced a partnership with the Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF), under which the project “Gloria” from the Philippines and Singapore will be featured in a cross-exchange initiative. Additionally, three films—“Shamed,” “Smash” and “Tiger in the Lion Den”—have been selected under NFDC’s Handpicked Focused Projects section.

The selected feature and documentary projects include a wide range of stories rooted in regional cultures, contemporary issues and personal narratives. They will participate in market interactions designed to explore international collaborations and financing opportunities.

Held annually alongside IFFI, WAVES Film Bazaar has become a key meeting platform for filmmakers, producers, festival curators and investors. Since its launch in 2007, the market has focused on supporting South Asian cinema while building connections with global film industries.
