AAI resolves technical glitch at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has successfully resolved a technical issue that had temporarily affected the processing of flight plan messages at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.

According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the issue occurred on November 6 in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS), which manages the exchange of flight plan data essential for air traffic control operations.

Following the detection of the problem, an urgent review meeting was convened by Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha with AAI Chairman Vipin Kumar, Member (Air Navigation Services) M. Suresh, and senior officials. Immediate instructions were issued to identify the root cause and restore normal operations.

To ensure continuity and safety in air traffic management, the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) was engaged, and additional manpower was deployed to manually process flight plans. This ensured that flight operations continued smoothly without any disruption.

A joint team comprising experts from the Electronics Corporation of India Limited and AAI remains on-site to monitor the system’s stability and performance.

AAI confirmed that the AMSS has been restored to normal functionality. While minor delays in automated processing may continue temporarily due to data backlogs, full normalcy is expected soon.
