Andhra Pradesh: PM Modi pays respects at Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s Mahasamadhi in Puttaparthi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday visited the holy shrine and Mahasamadhi of Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh, where he offered his obeisance and paid respects.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan accompanied the Prime Minister during the visit to Prasanthi Nilayam, meaning the ‘Abode of the Highest Peace,’ which is the main ashram and final resting place (Samadhi Mandir) of Sathya Sai Baba.

PM Modi is in Puttaparthi to attend centenary celebrations event of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, where he will release a Commemorative Coin and a set of Stamps honouring his life, teachings, and enduring legacy. He will also address the gathering during the programme.

Before reaching Prasanthi Nilayam, PM Modi held a roadshow on his way to Puttaparthi to attend the birth centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. People gathered on the streets in large numbers to welcome PM Modi.

Later, the Prime Minister will travel to Coimbatore, to inaugurate the South India Natural Farming Summit at around 1:30 pm. On the occasion, he will also release the 21st instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme, amounting to over ₹18,000 crore, benefiting nine crore farmers across the country. PM Modi is also scheduled to address farmers and delegates at the summit.

The three-day South India Natural Farming Summit, taking place from November 19 to 21, is being organised by the Tamil Nadu Natural Farming Stakeholders Forum. The event aims to promote sustainable, eco-friendly, and chemical-free farming practices, with a focus on accelerating the shift towards natural and regenerative agriculture.

The summit will highlight market linkages for farmer-producer organisations and rural entrepreneurs, and feature innovations in organic inputs, agro-processing, eco-friendly packaging and indigenous agricultural technologies.

More than 50,000 participants, including farmers, natural farming practitioners, scientists, and organic input suppliers from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Telangana, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh will attend the summit.
