Duffy shines as New Zealand seal 3-1 T20 series win over West Indies

Jacob Duffy claimed 4-35 as New Zealand beat the West Indies by eight wickets in the fifth and final T20 International on Thursday to clinch the five-match series 3-1 at the University Oval.

The West Indies had their chances but lost a few close contests. They won the opener by seven runs before New Zealand edged the next two by three and nine runs respectively, all decided in the final over. The fourth match in Nelson was washed out.

Duffy ripped through the top order with three wickets in the third over, reducing the visitors to 21-4 after three overs. Romario Shepherd (39) and Roston Chase (34) offered brief resistance, adding 43 for the ninth wicket with Shamar Springer, but the West Indies were dismissed for 140 in 18.4 overs.

The right-arm seamer also reached 50 wickets in T20 internationals in his 38th match, becoming the third-fastest New Zealander to the mark after Trent Boult (36) and Lockie Ferguson (37).

Chasing 141, openers Tim Robinson (45) and Devon Conway (47) set up the victory with a 69-run stand in seven overs. Rachin Ravindra and Mark Chapman, both unbeaten on 21, completed the formalities as New Zealand cruised home with 26 balls to spare.
