Harsh Malhotra hosts ‘Namo Run’ on road safety theme in east Delhi

Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and Road Transport & Highways Harsh Malhotra on Sunday hosted a “Namo Run” at the Yamuna Sports Complex in Surajmal Vihar as part of the Sansad Khel Mahotsav 2025 for East Delhi. The event, centred on the theme of road safety, drew more than 6,000 participants across age groups.

The run was flagged off by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who attended as the chief guest. Participants – from schoolchildren to senior citizens – took part to promote fitness and raise awareness about responsible behaviour on the roads.

Speaking at the event, Malhotra said the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on sports, fitness and youth engagement. He noted that the Namo Run aims to encourage a culture of physical activity while also spreading awareness about road safety. He added that the high turnout demonstrated strong community support and said he intends to organise more such events in the future.

Addressing the gathering, CM Gupta urged citizens to follow traffic rules and adopt a healthy lifestyle. She also highlighted ongoing government programmes aimed at expanding sports infrastructure and promoting fitness in Delhi.

The event saw participation from several dignitaries, including East Delhi MLAs and officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, who expressed their support for the Fit India movement.

Malhotra thanked volunteers, participants and local leaders for contributing to the success of the event, stating that community-driven initiatives such as the “Namo Run” play an important role in promoting fitness and public awareness on road safety.
