India and the European Union held the 9th high-level dialogue on Migration and Mobility (HLDMM) in New Delhi on November 12, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Friday.
The meeting was co-chaired by India’s Additional Secretary for Emigration, Prashant Pise, and Johannes Luchner, Deputy Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs.
During the discussions, both sides expressed satisfaction with the successful implementation of the India-EU Common Agenda on Migration and Mobility (India-EU CAMM). The dialogue also covered initiatives outlined in the Joint Communication on “A New Strategic India-EU Agenda,” adopted by the EU Council in September 2025.
According to the MEA, a key topic of discussion was the EU proposal to establish a pilot European Legal Gateway Office in India. The office is envisioned as a one-stop hub to provide information and facilitate the movement of professionals to the EU, initially focusing on the information and communications technology (ICT) sector.
Both India and the EU reaffirmed that migration and mobility remain a vital dimension of the strategic partnership between the two sides and exchanged views on further initiatives to strengthen cooperation in this area, the foreign ministry said.
It was agreed that the next round of the HLDMM would be held in Belgium on mutually agreed dates, the MEA added.
