India lost 3-2 to Belgium in a rain-affected Sultan Azlan Shah Cup match that was rescheduled and played on Tuesday. Abhishek and Shilanand Lakra scored for India, while Roman Duvekot struck twice and Nicolas De Kerpel added another for Belgium.
Belgium went ahead in the 17th minute through Duvekot after surviving early pressure from India, who had a goal from Dilpreet Singh disallowed for dangerous play. India levelled early in the second half through Abhishek in the 33rd minute, but De Kerpel restored Belgium’s lead from a penalty corner at the end of the third quarter.
Duvekot made it 3-1 early in the final quarter before Lakra pulled one back in the 57th minute, giving India late hope. India pressed in the final moments but could not force an equaliser.
India face hosts Malaysia next on November 26.
