India and Oman have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defence cooperation during the 13th Joint Military Cooperation Committee (JMCC) meeting held in New Delhi on Monday. Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence, Oman, Dr Mohammed Bin Naseer Bin Ali Al Zaabi co-chaired the meeting.
Both sides appreciated the ongoing defence partnership and discussed enhancing collaboration in defence industrial capabilities, supply chain security and interoperability. The discussions included joint development, technology sharing and expanding production partnerships in emerging defence technologies.
The two countries agreed to work towards long-term frameworks to support the co-development of advanced platforms and boost indigenous manufacturing. Strengthening defence ties was described as essential for regional stability, maritime security and shared strategic interests in the Indian Ocean Region.
During his visit, Dr Al Zaabi also called on Raksha Rajya Mantri Sanjay Seth and held a meeting with Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan to further review bilateral defence cooperation.
