India and Slovenia held the 10th meeting of the Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation (JCTEC) on Wednesday to review bilateral trade and to explore new areas for partnership between two countries.
The meeting was co-chaired by Saket Kumar, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Peter Japelj, Director General for Economic, Cultural and Scientific Diplomacy in Slovenia’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
Both sides discussed measures to deepen trade and investment ties and exchanged views on the global and domestic economic outlook. Sectoral cooperation in areas such as agriculture, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, health, transport, energy, tourism, MSMEs, and Ayurveda and traditional medicine also came up for detailed review.
India noted that bilateral trade with Slovenia has shown consistent growth in recent years, reflecting a strengthening partnership. Slovenia’s geographical advantage in Central Europe and India’s expanding outreach in the region were seen as key enablers for future economic collaboration, particularly in connectivity, innovation and technology-led sectors.
The delegations also expressed optimism about the early conclusion of a balanced India–EU Free Trade Agreement.
