The IndiaJoy B2B 2025 initiative, featuring the Indian Film Market and WAVES Animation Bazaar, was successfully held in Hyderabad, reinforcing the city’s position as a leading hub for the AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, Extended Reality) and film industries. The event was organized in collaboration with WAVES Bazaar, ProducerBazaar, and Aha.
This year, the platform saw participation from 120 sellers across India and 35 buyers, facilitating co-productions, content licensing, and strategic collaborations. Sprouts Studio announced a fund of INR 6 crore to support intellectual properties (IPs) associated with the WAVES Animation Bazaar and Indian Film Market.
The WAVES Animation Bazaar showcased 18 emerging creators and IP holders, connecting storytellers, producers, and distributors to foster partnerships and advance India’s entertainment ecosystem. Prominent buyers included Aha, Zee, Spirit Media, Jio Hotstar, Suresh Productions, ETV Win, Watcho, Northstar Entertainment, and Alpha Pictures, with content rights proposals worth INR 24 crore discussed during the event.
Addressing the inaugural session, Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, said, “Bringing sellers and buyers onto a single platform will energize India’s entertainment trade. The WAVES initiative integrating creativity and technology will transform the sector.”
The WAVES Bazaar Pavilion also hosted the Create in India Challenge (CIC) Winners Showcase, featuring over 20 winners from the AVGC-XR sector. Innovators presented VR headsets, gaming prototypes, animation films, educational tech devices, and cinematic IPs developed through competitions like the Animation Film Competition, Innovate2Educate Challenge, WAVES Awards of Excellence, XR Creator Hackathon, and Unreal Cinematic Challenge.
