Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday described India’s Gen-Z as one of the biggest strengths of Viksit Bharat. Speaking during the 128th episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, he said that determination, teamwork and the courage to rise after failure ensure success even in difficult situations.
The Prime Minister highlighted India’s progress in the space sector and praised a group of young innovators from Pune who took part in an ISRO-organised drone competition designed to simulate Martian conditions. The challenge required drones to fly without GPS support – since GPS signals are not available on Mars – forcing them to navigate using onboard cameras and software.
PM Modi said that the drones often crashed because they had to independently recognise ground patterns, gauge altitude and avoid obstacles. A Pune-based team, despite multiple failed attempts, managed to keep its drone airborne for some time in the simulated Mars environment. The Prime Minister said that their persistence reflected the resilience of India’s youth.
He also recalled the setback during the Chandrayaan-2 mission, noting that scientists immediately began working toward the success of Chandrayaan-3. He said that the achievement of Chandrayaan-3 symbolised renewed confidence built through overcoming failure.
PM Modi said he sees the same spirit in today’s young innovators and scientists, calling their commitment a major force driving India’s development goals.
