In the run-up to the Republic Day 2026 celebrations, the Ministry of Defence has invited citizens to participate in a series of creative competitions aimed at celebrating India’s spirit of self-reliance and patriotic expression. The initiatives, launched in collaboration with MyGov, are open to people of all age groups, with a special focus on students and young artists.
The Ministry announced four major competitions—painting, essay writing, singing and a quiz—available on the MyGov platform. These activities aim to engage citizens in showcasing their creativity while reflecting on India’s journey and national values.
Under the painting competition titled ‘Samriddhi Ka Mantra – Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, participants are encouraged to depict India’s progress in innovation, sustainability and self-reliance. Selected artworks will be featured in a special exhibition.
The essay competition, themed ‘Swatantrata Ka Mantra – Vande Mataram’, invites entries exploring the idea of freedom through the iconic patriotic chant. Top essays will be published on MyGov.
For the singing competition, participants can submit their renditions of Vande Mataram in any style. The most impressive performances will be recognised and rewarded.
Additionally, a Republic Day quiz competition will go live on December 1, covering topics such as the 150-year journey of Vande Mataram, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, India’s space achievements and accomplishments in sports.
The Ministry has encouraged citizens to stay updated on Republic Day 2026 activities by visiting the official portal and downloading the Rashtraparv app.
