MSMEs lead as 13 companies file for Rs. 1,914 crore investment under PLI for ACs, LED lights

The fourth round of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for White Goods (Air Conditioners and LED Lights), launched by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), has attracted 13 applications with a net committed investment of Rs. 1,914 crore.

The application window for the scheme, which covers air conditioners and LED lights, was open from September 15 to Novermber 10. More than half of the new applicants are micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), signalling growing confidence among smaller manufacturers in India’s expanding electronics ecosystem.

Of the 13 applicants, one existing beneficiary pledged an additional Rs. 15 crore, while nine companies — accounting for 75% of total proposals — applied for manufacturing air conditioner components with a combined investment of Rs. 1,816 crore. The remaining four firms proposed Rs. 98 crore for LED component manufacturing, including LED chips, drivers and heat sinks.

The proposed investments span six states across 13 districts and 23 sites, supporting regional industrial growth and job creation, DPIIT said.

So far, the PLI Scheme for White Goods has attracted Rs. 10,335 crore in committed investments from 80 approved beneficiaries. With a total outlay of Rs. 6,238 crore, the scheme aims to build a complete component ecosystem for air conditioners and LED lights, and raise domestic value addition from 15–20% to as much as 75–80%.
