NIA arrests key associate linked to Delhi car bombing case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested another key suspect in the Delhi car bombing case, marking a fresh breakthrough in the probe into the November 10 blast near the Red Fort.

The arrested accused, identified as Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish, was detained in Srinagar by an NIA team. According to the agency, Jasir allegedly provided technical support for terror activities by modifying drones and attempting to build rockets ahead of the attack.

Investigators have found that Jasir, a resident of Qazigund in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, worked closely with the main terrorist Umar Un Nabi. The blast was executed around 7 pm on November 10 using a vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (IED) near the Red Fort.

The NIA said it is continuing to examine multiple angles in the case and is coordinating with Delhi Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, Uttar Pradesh Police and other security agencies. Search operations are underway in multiple states to track every individual linked to the conspiracy.

This is the second arrest in the case within 48 hours. On Sunday, the NIA arrested Amir Rashid Ali, also from Kashmir, who allegedly helped the suicide bomber procure the Hyundai i20 car used in the attack. The vehicle was registered in Amir’s name.

The agency has forensically confirmed the identity of the deceased bomber as Umar Un Nabi, an Assistant Professor in the General Medicine Department at Al Falah University, Faridabad. Another vehicle belonging to Nabi has also been seized and is undergoing forensic analysis.

So far, the NIA has examined 73 witnesses, including several victims of the blast, as the investigation spans multiple states and follows multiple leads to uncover the wider network behind the attack.
