PM Modi, Amit Shah pay tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur on 350th Shaheedi Diwas

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid homage to Guru Tegh Bahadur on his 350th Shaheedi Diwas (martyrdom anniversary), calling the ninth Sikh Guru’s supreme sacrifice an eternal symbol of courage, faith and humanity.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “On the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, we bow in reverence to his unmatched courage and sacrifice. His martyrdom for the protection of faith and humanity will forever illuminate our society.” He also shared a video recalling the Guru’s legacy.

PM Modi said that Guru Tegh Bahadur’s sacrifice has inspired generations to remain steadfast in protecting culture and upholding the dignity of humanity. “Great persecutions have ended, great storms have calmed, but India still stands unfaded today; it is moving forward. Today, once again, the world is looking towards India to lead the way on the path of humanity. We can feel the blessings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji in this new India,” he said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute, remembering the Guru as “Hind Ki Chadar,” the shield of India. “He struggled for the Kashmiri Pandits, challenged the tyrannical Mughals, and sacrificed everything for the sake of religion,” Shah said.

He added that remembering the Guru’s valour and devotion fills the heart with pride and strengthens the resolve for national defence.
