Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team after they won the Kabaddi World Cup 2025, calling the team’s performance a source of inspiration for young athletes across the country.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister praised the squad for their skill and determination. “Congratulations to our Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team for making the nation proud by winning the Kabaddi World Cup 2025,” he wrote, adding that the players had shown “outstanding grit, skills and dedication”. Modi also said the victory would encourage more youngsters to take up the sport.
The Indian women’s team defeated Chinese Taipei 35–28 in the final held in Dhaka to secure their second consecutive World Cup title.
India remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. After winning all their group matches, the team defeated Iran 33–21 in the semi-final to reach the summit clash. Chinese Taipei also entered the final with an unbeaten record, overcoming hosts Bangladesh 25–18 in the semi-final.
A total of 11 countries participated in the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup, reflecting the expansion of the sport at the global level.
