PM Modi hosts World Cup-winning Indian blind women’s cricket team

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday hosted the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team, winners of the inaugural T20 World Cup, at his residence in Lok Kalyan Marg.

The team scripted history by winning the first-ever Blind Women’s T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka, defeating Nepal by seven wickets in the final. India remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, demonstrating complete dominance.

PM Modi greeted the players and coaching staff with the World Cup trophy and interacted with captain Deepika and other team members, even offering sweets with his own hand.

The Indian team also presented the Prime Minister with a signed bat.

In the final, India restricted Nepal to 114 for 5 after opting to field first. The chase was clinical, with India achieving the target in 12.1 overs, 47 balls to spare. Khula Sharir starred with an unbeaten 44 off 27 balls, including four boundaries.

Earlier, India defeated Sri Lanka (10 wickets), Australia (209 runs), Nepal (85 runs), the United States (10 wickets) and Pakistan (8 wickets) in the group stage. They then beat Australia by nine wickets in the semi-final before defeating Nepal in the final.
