Textiles ministry clears 17 new applicants under PLI Scheme

The Ministry of Textiles has approved 17 new applicants under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Textiles in the third round of selections, giving a further boost to the man-made fibre (MMF) and technical textiles sectors.

According to the ministry, the newly approved applicants have committed investments worth ₹2,374 crore. Their proposed projects are expected to generate projected sales of more than ₹12,893 crore and create employment for an estimated 22,646 people in the coming years.

The PLI Scheme for Textiles, announced on September 24, 2021, aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing of MMF apparel, MMF fabrics, and technical textile products. With an outlay of ₹10,683 crore, the scheme is designed to help the industry scale up, improve global competitiveness, and expand job opportunities. With the latest approvals, the total number of applicants selected under the scheme across three rounds now stands at 91.

The ministry recently introduced key amendments to the scheme to encourage wider industry participation. The online portal has been reopened for fresh applications, which will be accepted until December 31, 2025.

Companies interested in applying can visit the official portal at pli.texmin.gov.in.
