Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital have signed an agreement with the Central Ayurveda Research Institute to develop evidence-based Ayurveda protocols for menopause care.
The partnership aims to create validated integrative treatments combining Ayurveda and modern medicine. Menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, sleep disturbances, fatigue, vaginal dryness and mood shifts have driven interest in alternative and supportive therapies.
“Ayurveda-based therapies, when used responsibly alongside allopathic care, can benefit women experiencing menopause,” said Sandeep Bansal, Director of VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital. He said Ayurvedic medicines containing metals should only be taken under expert supervision.
Hemanta Panigrahi, head of the Central Ayurveda Research Institute, said the collaboration will strengthen research capacity and support wider adoption of scientifically tested Ayurvedic interventions. The Ayurveda unit at Safdarjung Hospital has been operational for more than two decades.
The agreement is expected to support the development of safe and effective integrative approaches and expand research in women’s health under the Ministry of Ayush.
