Auto industry witnesses record November sales on festive demand, GST relief: SIAM

India’s automobile industry delivered its strongest-ever November performance in 2025, with passenger vehicles, two-wheelers and three-wheelers all hitting record monthly sales, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

Passenger vehicle sales rose 18.7% year-on-year to 4,12,405 units, supported by festive-season buying and policy measures such as GST reforms.

Two-wheelers continued to dominate overall volumes. Sales jumped 21.2% to 19,44,475 units, driven largely by scooters and motorcycles. Mopeds registered a slight decline, but the broader two-wheeler segment maintained a robust upward trajectory.

The three-wheeler segment also posted solid gains. Total sales reached 71,999 units, an increase of 21.3% over November 2024. While passenger and goods carriers improved, e-rickshaw sales dipped. E-carts, meanwhile, saw sharp growth on a low base.

Production levels remained strong across categories. SIAM reported total output of passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, three-wheelers and quadricycles at 29,43,456 units for the month, reflecting stable factory activity and the ability to meet rising domestic demand.

SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon said auto the sector maintained its momentum on the back of festive demand and the government’s GST 2.0 reforms.

“Passenger vehicles recorded 4.12 lakh units with 18.7% growth, two-wheelers posted 19.44 lakh units with 21.2% growth, and three-wheelers registered 72,000 units with 21.3% growth over November 2024,” he said.

Menon added that market sentiment remains positive, and continued policy support is expected to sustain the growth trend into 2026.
