PVTG habitations in Tripura

Centre approves 25 road projects to boost connectivity in PVTG habitations of Tripura

The Centre has approved 25 new road projects in Tripura aimed at improving connectivity in Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) areas, the Ministry of Rural Development said on Tuesday.

The projects, sanctioned under the Road Connectivity component of PM-JANMAN, will cover a total length of 65.38 km and involve an estimated investment of ₹68.67 crore.

According to the Ministry, the initiative will provide all-weather road access to 30 PVTG habitations across the state, significantly improving mobility and connectivity in tribal and remote regions. The enhanced road network is expected to uplift the socio-economic conditions of PVTG communities by enabling better access to healthcare, education, markets, and other essential services.

The Ministry noted that improved connectivity will help bridge the gap between remote villages and urban centres, promote local trade and commerce, generate employment opportunities, and stimulate the region’s economic growth.

Ministry stated that the move aligns with the Government’s broader vision of strengthening development in the Northeast and advancing the goals of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.

The Ministry added that the PM-JANMAN road projects are expected to have a transformative impact on tribal areas, reinforcing the government’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development in the North-Eastern region.
