The Ministry of Minority Affairs on Saturday reviewed arrangements for the 814th Urs of Dargah Khwaja Saheb in Ajmer, scheduled to begin on December 17, 2025, with a focus on ensuring the safety, security and convenience of pilgrims.
A review meeting was held in Ajmer to take stock of preparedness, where officials stressed the need for close coordination among all concerned agencies to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the annual religious event, which attracts a large number of devotees from across the country and abroad.
Key arrangements discussed included the installation of CCTV cameras at strategic locations, adequate provision of drinking water and toilets, parking facilities,maintenance of hygiene and cleanliness, effective crowd management measures, and the removal of stray animals from the Dargah Khwaja Saheb (DKS) area. The district administration informed that necessary measures are being put in place and line departments have been directed to remain fully prepared.
As part of the field review, officials of the Ministry also visited the Ashray Sthali (Musafirkhana), a temporary resting camp being set up on around 150 bigha of land on the outskirts of Ajmer, to assess facilities being created for the accommodation and convenience of Ziyareens during the Urs.
The Ministry noted with satisfaction the preparedness shared by the district administration and emphasised the importance of continuous monitoring during the Urs period to address any emerging issues promptly.
Reiterating a long-standing tradition, officials recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi sends a Chadar every year for offering at Dargah Khwaja Saheb, symbolising respect for India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
The meeting was chaired by S. P. Singh Teotia, Director, Ministry of Minority Affairs, and was attended by officials from the district administration and representatives of Dargah Khwaja Saheb.
