Telangana continued to remain under cold wave conditions on Monday, with some places recording minimum temperatures in single digits.
Kohir in Sangareddy district was the coldest location, registering a minimum temperature of 5 degrees Celsius. Reddy Palle in Moinabad mandal of Ranga Reddy district was the second coldest, with a minimum of 6.9 degrees Celsius.
Out of the state’s 33 districts, 17 recorded minimum temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius.
Sirpur (U) in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district recorded a minimum temperature of 7 degrees Celsius, followed by Arili in Adilabad district at 8.3 degrees Celsius, Nawabpet in Vikarabad district at 8.7 degrees Celsius, Pothareddipet in Siddipet district at 9.5 degrees Celsius, Damarancha in Medak district at 9.5 degrees Celsius, and Gandhari in Kamareddy district at 9.7 degrees Celsius.
A significant drop in night temperatures was recorded at several places, including the state capital Hyderabad and its suburbs.
Dense fog enveloped a few areas on the outskirts of Hyderabad and in parts of Ranga Reddy, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Medak, Adilabad and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave alert for seven districts. According to the IMD bulletin, cold wave conditions are very likely to prevail at isolated pockets in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy districts.
An orange alert has been issued for these districts, which are likely to record minimum temperatures between 5 and 10 degrees Celsius until December 26.
For districts including Hanumakonda, Hyderabad, Jagtial, Jangaon, Karimnagar, Mahabubabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Nizamabad, Peddapalle, Rajanna Sircilla, Ranga Reddy, Siddipet, Vikarabad, Warangal and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, the IMD has issued a yellow alert. These districts may record minimum temperatures between 11 and 15 degrees Celsius over the next five days.
The remaining 11 districts are likely to record minimum temperatures above 15 degrees Celsius.
The IMD further said that dry weather is very likely to prevail over Telangana during the next two days, with minimum temperatures likely to remain 3 to 4 degrees Celsius below normal at isolated places.
For Hyderabad and surrounding areas, the IMD forecast partly cloudy skies over the next 24 hours, with fog or mist likely during morning hours and misty or hazy conditions expected at night. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 28 degrees Celsius and 13 degrees Celsius, respectively.
