At least five people died when a small Mexican Navy aircraft crashed on Monday off the Texas coast near Galveston during a mission for an organisation that helps child burn victims, including transferring them for treatment in the U.S.
The aircraft carried eight people, Mexico’s Navy secretariat said: four naval personnel and four civilians.
One person is missing and two survived.
The aircraft was on a mission providing specialized medical transport. It was carried out in coordination with the Michou y Mau Foundation, which assists Mexican children with severe burns.
Investigations will be carried out to determine the causes of the crash, the Mexican authority added in a statement.
