Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said that the government will soon introduce the ‘Bharat Taxi’ service, under which profits will be shared with drivers, with the aim of improving customer convenience and enhancing drivers’ earnings.
Addressing the Sahkari Sammelan in Panchkula, the minister said the initiative is being taken under the Ministry of Cooperation and will ensure that the benefits of the service flow directly to drivers.
He said the proposed service will combine ease of travel for passengers with better income opportunities for drivers, adding that the entire profit generated under the initiative will go to the drivers.
The Union Minister also highlighted Haryana’s contribution to the country, stating that the state has played a key role in ensuring food security, strengthening dairy production and achieving excellence in sports. He said farmers from Haryana have consistently contributed to national development and brought recognition to the country in multiple fields.
Shah further said that Haryana and Punjab have played a major role in making India self-reliant in food grain production and earning global respect. He also underlined Haryana’s contribution to national security, noting that despite being a small state, it contributes the highest number of soldiers per capita to the Central Armed Police Forces and the armed forces.
Emphasising the role of cooperation in economic growth, Shah said prosperity can be achieved by integrating livestock rearing, agriculture and cooperative systems.
The minister also highlighted the increase in government spending under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the agriculture budget has risen from Rs 22,000 crore in 2014 to Rs 1.27 lakh crore, while the rural development budget has increased from Rs 80,000 crore to Rs 1.87 lakh crore.
He said these measures reflect the government’s focus on strengthening rural livelihoods and supporting farmers across the country.
