Haj 2026: Government issues advisory to pilgrims for timely bookings through authorised operators

The Centre on Monday issued an advisory urging intending Haj pilgrims to complete their bookings well in advance if they plan to travel through Haj Group Organisers (HGOs) or Private Tour Operators (PTOs) for Haj 2026.

Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju shared the Haj 2026 circular on X, “For the convenience of Indian private Haj pilgrims, I urge everyone to apply early & choose only authorised Haj Group Organisers (HGOs)/PTOs. Timely booking by 15 January 2026 will help avoid last-minute difficulties & ensure smooth, well-organised arrangements for this sacred journey.”

According to the advisory, issued in line with timelines set by the Ministry of Haj and Umrah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the last date for finalising mandatory housing and services contracts for Haj 2026 is February 1, 2026. These contracts are essential to ensure accommodation, transportation and other logistical arrangements for pilgrims during their stay in Saudi Arabia.

The Minority Affairs Ministry noted that Haj Group Organisers and Private Tour Operators are required to complete several preparatory and procedural requirements within the stipulated timelines. In view of this, prospective pilgrims have been advised to secure their bookings at an early stage to facilitate timely completion of accommodation and transport contracts.

Pilgrims have been specifically advised to complete all booking formalities on or before January 15, 2026. This will help avoid last-minute inconveniences and ensure that all mandatory processes, including contractual compliance with Saudi authorities, are completed within the prescribed deadlines.

The advisory also cautioned pilgrims to verify the registration status, quota allocation and approval of the concerned HGO or PTO before making any bookings. Pilgrims have been urged to book only through authorised operators to safeguard their interests and ensure a smooth Haj experience.
