Indian Railways has promoted three members of India’s 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup-winning team – Pratika Rawal, Sneh Rana and Renuka Singh Thakur – to the rank of Officer on Special Duty (Sports). The out-of-turn promotions elevate them to Group ‘B’ Gazetted Officer posts in Level-8 of the 7th Pay Commission pay matrix.
The Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) said that the decision will give the players greater financial security and place them in administrative roles within the Railways. All three athletes were earlier felicitated at Rail Bhawan by Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Pratika Rawal, an opening batter from Delhi, was serving as a Senior Clerk in Northern Railway. Renuka Singh Thakur, a right-arm medium-fast bowler, was working as a Junior Clerk. Sneh Rana, an all-rounder from Uttarakhand, was serving as a Commercial-cum-Ticket Clerk (CCTC). All three have now been elevated to the OSD (Sports) position.
The Railways Ministry said that Indian Railways has a long-standing tradition of supporting and promoting sporting talent, and its players have consistently represented India on the international stage.
