Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Dr Jitendra Singh, will inaugurate the fifth National Workshop on Good Governance Practices on December 25 at the Civil Services Officers’ Institute (CSOI) in New Delhi, as part of the Good Governance Week celebrations commemorating the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The annual Good Governance Week is observed from December 19 to 25 and has emerged as a nationwide initiative aimed at improving service delivery, strengthening grievance redressal mechanisms and promoting citizen-centric administration.
According to official data, Good Governance Week activities were organised across all 36 States and Union Territories at district and tehsil levels. These included disposal of service delivery applications, redressal of public grievances through CPGRAMS and state portals, special outreach camps and sharing of best governance practices. During the week-long programme, over 1.50 crore service delivery applications were processed and more than 17 lakh public grievances were disposed of through over 32,000 camps and workshops.
As the culmination of the week, the national workshop will focus on initiatives to enhance efficiency in decision-making and on the outcomes of Special Campaign 5.0, which aims to institutionalise cleanliness and reduce pendency in government offices. Implemented annually from October 2 to 31 since 2021, the campaign has, between 2021 and 2025, covered 23.65 lakh sites, led to the closure or weeding out of 167.38 lakh files, freed 930.2 lakh square feet of space for productive use and generated revenue of ₹4,130.63 crore.
During the event, Singh will release seven reports and launch several digital initiatives of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. These include the Assessment Report of Special Campaign 5.0, the Annual Report of Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS), and a Compendium on Reservation for Ex-Servicemen. He will also unveil new IT tools such as an AI-powered Recruitment Rules Generator, the mobile app for eHRMS 2.0, new features on the iGOT Karmayogi portal, and the Karmayogi Digital Learning Lab 2.0.
The workshop will feature discussions on best practices emerging from the Special Campaign and measures to improve decision-making efficiency, with participation from senior officials across the country. More than 1,000 officers from States and Union Territories are expected to join the event virtually.
