Kabaddi Champions League Zone 4 and Central Trials conclude in Sonipat; over 110 players set for ₹4 crore mega auction

The Kabaddi Champions League (KCL) has successfully concluded its Zone 4 Trials on December 5 and the Central Trials on December 6 and 7 in Sonipat, marking a major step toward the league’s inaugural season. The multi-stage talent identification drive once again highlighted Haryana’s dominance in kabaddi and added momentum to the excitement surrounding the league’s historic ₹4 crore mega auction. To ensure smooth operations, the Zone 4 Trials were held at Renu Vidya Mandir College, Bhalgarh, while the Central Trials took place at Saraswati Senior Secondary School in Sonipat.

The trials drew an overwhelming response, reaffirming Haryana’s unmatched strength in the sport. More than 3,500 players registered, and over 1,500 athletes physically participated in the central trials, signalling the trust and enthusiasm the kabaddi community places in the KCL platform. The turnout demonstrated both the depth of kabaddi talent across Haryana and the league’s ability to attract emerging and promising athletes from every part of the region.

The trials represented not just a selection process but a strong expression of KCL’s long-term vision. The league aims to discover and groom the next generation of kabaddi champions while offering structured exposure, professional training and clear sporting career pathways. It also seeks to strengthen Haryana’s historic kabaddi legacy and establish a state-first sporting model with national and international ambitions. With its ₹4 crore purse, KCL is raising the scale and value of state-level kabaddi leagues and offering meaningful opportunities for both young and established players.

The integrity of the trials was ensured through the involvement of some of India’s most respected kabaddi figures, including Mohit Chillar, Rajesh Narwal and Ravinder Pahal, supported by several senior ex-international and national-level players. Their oversight brought fairness, credibility and high evaluation standards to the selection process.

Mohit Chillar said the level of talent was exceptional and far beyond expectations, calling it a positive sign for the sport’s future. Rajesh Narwal said the skill displayed by the athletes made the selection process challenging and noted that the league’s ₹4 crore purse reflects its ambition. Ravinder Pahal said KCL is redefining kabaddi and that the central trials have shown the depth of raw talent that Haryana continues to produce.

With the trials completed, KCL now moves to the next major phase: the high-stakes Mega Auction. Between 200 and 250 shortlisted players are expected to go under the hammer for contracts under the ₹4 crore purse, one of the biggest for a state-level kabaddi league. Teams will build their squads strategically, and players across all grades, from A to C, will have equal opportunities to secure meaningful contracts. The auction is expected to draw strong interest from kabaddi enthusiasts, scouts and sporting organisations across the country.

For the participating athletes, KCL represents more than just a league. It offers a platform for professional sporting careers, national recognition, potential international opportunities, financial independence through auction bids and guidance from India’s leading kabaddi icons. The league is committed to ensuring that every deserving athlete receives the recognition and opportunities they merit.

The Kabaddi Champions League is envisioned as a transformative state-level kabaddi ecosystem built to empower grassroots talent and produce world-class athletes. With its professional evaluation system, expert selection committee, structured training approach and landmark ₹4 crore auction purse, KCL is set to reshape the kabaddi landscape in India and contribute significantly to the sport’s future.
