Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday conveyed his best wishes for the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, which commenced today in Varanasi. Describing the festival as a vibrant celebration of cultural unity, the Prime Minister said it strengthens the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.’
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said he hopes the visitors to the event have a memorable experience in the holy city.
“As the Kashi Tamil Sangamam begins today, I convey my best wishes for this vibrant programme which deepens the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.’ I wish everyone coming for the Sangamam a pleasant and memorable stay in Kashi!” the Prime Minister wrote.
The programme is being held in Varanasi from December 2 to December 15, with a special focus on boosting cultural and academic exchanges between Tamil Nadu and Kashi.
The Kashi Tamil Sangamam was launched in 2022 to further strengthen the centuries-old linguistic, cultural and spiritual bonds between Tamil Nadu and Kashi. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also expressed enthusiasm on the commencement of the event, calling it an important medium to connect the traditions of North and South India.
This year’s theme is “Let Us Learn Tamil,” highlighting promotion of the Tamil language and its rich classical literary heritage. The programme starts in Varanasi and will conclude in Rameswaram, symbolically linking two culturally significant ends of the country.
