Navy shooter Kiran Ankush Jadhav delivered a composed and consistent performance to win the gold medal in the 10m Air Rifle Men final at the National Shooting Championship Competitions, currently underway at the MP State Shooting Academy.
Jadhav topped the final with a score of 252.1, edging out Olympian Arjun Babuta, who settled for silver with 251.4. Reigning national champion Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar claimed the bronze medal with 229.8.
In the 10m Air Rifle Men Junior final, Gujarat’s Mohammed Murtaza Vania produced a dominant performance to secure the gold with 254.3, while Abhinav Shaw of West Bengal won silver and Onkar Vikas Waghamare finished third.
Waghamare later went one better in the 10m Air Rifle Men Youth final, clinching gold with a score of 250, narrowly finishing ahead of his teammate Naraen Pranav. Tamil Nadu’s Shakthivel Senthivel secured the bronze medal.
The championships also saw strong performances in pistol and shotgun events. In the 25m Pistol Men (Senior) category, Mandeep Singh won gold, while Amit Kumar and Suraj Sharma claimed silver and bronze respectively. Suraj Sharma also emerged as a multiple medallist across junior and youth pistol categories.
In trap shooting, Gujarat’s Aryan Singh won the Youth Men Trap title, while Addya Katyal of Delhi clinched gold in the Youth Women Trap event.
The medal ceremonies were held in the presence of senior officials and dignitaries. Competition at the Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy will continue on Tuesday with the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event, with the first final scheduled to begin at 12:45 pm.
