Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday interacted with a group of eminent economists and experts at NITI Aayog, with discussions centred on Aatmanirbharta and Structural Transformation: Agenda for Viksit Bharat.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said the vision of a developed India by 2047 has moved beyond government policy to become a mass aspiration. He noted that changing patterns in education, consumption, and global mobility reflect rising ambitions across society, requiring stronger institutional capacity and forward-looking infrastructure planning.
The Prime Minister emphasised the need for mission-mode reforms across sectors to sustain long-term economic growth. He said policymaking and budgeting must remain anchored to the 2047 vision, with a focus on building global capabilities and ensuring India’s deeper integration with international markets. He also underlined the importance of positioning India as a key hub for the global workforce.
During the interaction, economists shared insights on enhancing productivity and competitiveness across manufacturing and services. Discussions focused on accelerating structural transformation through higher household savings, robust infrastructure development, and greater adoption of advanced technologies.
Participants highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence as a catalyst for productivity across sectors and discussed the continued expansion of India’s Digital Public Infrastructure as a foundation for inclusive and efficient growth.
The economists noted that the wide-ranging cross-sectoral reforms undertaken in 2025, along with their planned consolidation in the coming year, have strengthened India’s economic fundamentals. They observed that these measures are expected to help India maintain its position among the fastest-growing major economies while unlocking new opportunities for growth.
