Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday condoled the deaths caused by a collision between two Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation buses in Sivaganga district and announced financial assistance for the victims’ families.
In a message posted on X, the Prime Minister said, “The loss of lives due to a mishap in Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu is deeply saddening. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover soon.”
He announced that ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) would be provided to the next of kin of each deceased, while those injured would receive ₹50,000.
The state government has also announced ₹3 lakh compensation for the next of kin of each deceased.
The tragic incident took place around 5 p.m. on November 30, when a bus travelling from Kangeyam to Karaikudi collided head-on with another government bus travelling from Karaikudi to Dindigul. The crash occurred near Kummangudi, close to Kundrakkudi, on a narrow stretch of road.
