India-Russia ties | Pm modi Putin | Pm modi gifts Bhagavad gita to Putin

PM Modi gifts Russian edition of Bhagavad Gita to Putin, calls it a text that inspires millions

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday presented a Russian translation of the Bhagavad Gita to President Vladimir Putin, who is in India for a two-day state visit.

Taking to X, the Prime Minister wrote: “Presented a copy of the Gita in Russian to President Putin. The teachings of the Gita give inspiration to millions across the world.”

The Russian edition is among several global-language translations of the scripture that continue to find readership among scholars, spiritual practitioners, and cultural enthusiasts internationally.

The Prime Minister’s official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, was decorated with India–Russia flags and special lighting on Thursday evening, as PM Modi hosted Putin for a private dinner shortly after the latter arrived in Delhi.

Notably, Prime Minister Modi personally received Putin at Delhi’s Palam Airport — a rare diplomatic gesture that underscored the strength of India–Russia ties.

The two leaders will hold the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit at Hyderabad House today.

The Russian President will also receive a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan, lay a wreath at Rajghat, attend a business event, and call on President Droupadi Murmu.
