PM Modi to inaugurate, lay foundation for ₹3,200-Crore NH projects in West Bengal on Dec 20

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit West Bengal on December 20, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for two National Highway projects worth around ₹3,200 crore, according to an official statement.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to reach Ranaghat in Nadia district at around 11:15 am, where he will inaugurate completed works, lay foundation stones for upcoming projects and address a public gathering.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the 66.7-km-long four-laning of the Barajaguli–Krishnanagar section of National Highway-34 in Nadia district. He will also lay the foundation stone for the four-laning of the 17.6-km-long Barasat–Barajaguli section of NH-34 in North 24 Parganas district.

The highway projects are expected to serve as a vital connectivity link between Kolkata and Siliguri. Officials said the improved infrastructure will help reduce travel time by nearly two hours, ensure smoother traffic flow, lower vehicle operating costs and enhance connectivity between Kolkata, other districts of West Bengal and neighbouring countries.
