Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the renaming of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) as ‘Seva Tirth’, under a nationwide initiative to reinforce a people-centric model of governance.
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah shared the announcement today, stating that the last 11 years of the Central government have been guided by the Prime Minister’s philosophy of service over power. He said that the renaming reflects the Prime Minister’s belief in working as the Pradhan Sewak of the nation.
As part of this initiative, official residences traditionally known as Raj Bhavan and Raj Niwas will now be called Lok Bhavan and Lok Niwas. The move is aimed at underscoring accessibility and accountability in public administration.
Terming the decision “historic”, the Home Minister said the step marks an important milestone in India’s journey towards a developed and people-centric governance framework.
According to Amit Shah, the initiative aligns with the government’s resolve to build a developed India, where transparency and service to citizens remain central to policymaking and administration.
