Results of PM-YUVA 3.0 announced; 43 young authors selected across 22 Indian languages

The Ministry of Education on Tuesday announced the results of the Prime Minister’s Scheme for Mentoring Young Authors (PM-YUVA 3.0), with 43 young authors below the age of 30 selected from across the country in 22 Indian languages and English.

Implemented by the National Book Trust (NBT), India, the scheme aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and aims to encourage young writers to contribute to nation-building through creative and scholarly writing.

The selected authors were chosen through an All-India contest and represent languages including Assamese, Bangla, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Maithili, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. Of the 43 selected authors, 19 are women and 24 are men.

Under PM-YUVA 3.0, the selected book proposals will be developed into full-length non-fiction works during a six-month mentorship programme guided by eminent scholars. Each author will receive a scholarship of ₹50,000 per month during the mentorship period, along with a lifetime royalty of 10 per cent on the published book.

The themes for this edition include the contribution of the Indian diaspora in nation-building, the Indian Knowledge System, and makers of modern India from 1950 to 2025. According to officials, the selected manuscripts reflect India’s past, present and future, covering subjects such as history, culture, science, philosophy, governance, social reform and India’s global engagement.

A National Camp for the selected authors will be organised during the New Delhi World Book Fair, scheduled to be held from January 10 to 18, 2026. The first set of books under PM-YUVA 3.0 is expected to be published next year.

The ministry said the initiative aims to nurture a new generation of writers who can represent Indian literature and thought both within the country and internationally.
