Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday marked the sacred festival of Uttarayan by offering prayers at the Shri Jagannath Temple, worshipping Gau Mata, paying obeisance at a gurudwara, and participating in public kite-flying events across Ahmedabad.
On the occasion of Uttarayan, Shah visited the historic Jagannath Temple, where he offered prayers and sought blessings for the nation. Emphasising the spiritual significance of the day, he also performed worship of Gau Mata, noting the special place accorded to service and reverence of cows in Sanatan Dharma.
The Home Minister later paid obeisance at Gurudwara Gobind Dham, reflecting the spirit of harmony and inclusiveness associated with the festival.
As part of the celebrations, Shah joined residents at public kite festivals organised in his Lok Sabha constituency, including events in Naranpura Ward and Nava Vadaj areas of Ahmedabad. He was seen flying kites alongside local residents as the city and the wider state celebrated the harvest festival with enthusiasm.
In posts on X, Shah described his visit to the Jagannath Temple as a cherished annual tradition and expressed hope that the blessings of Mahaprabhu would continue to guide the nation. He also highlighted that Uttarayan was being celebrated with great joy across Gujarat.
Uttarayan, also known as the kite festival, marks the sun’s northward journey and is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in Gujarat, bringing together people from all walks of life in a vibrant display of cultural and spiritual unity.
