Amit Shah pays tribute to Kalyan Singh on his birth anniversary

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday paid tributes to former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh on his birth anniversary.

In a post on X, Amit Shah said, “On the birth anniversary of the illustrious nationalist leader, the revered Kalyan Singh ji, I offer my humble salutations. Kalyan Singh ji, the symbol of a crime-free administration in Uttar Pradesh, never compromised on the principles of safeguarding the nation’s heritage and cultural pride, and steadfastly remained true to his ideological values by relinquishing power. His works dedicated to public welfare and service to the people remain memorable even today.”

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath also paid tributes to Singh.

In a post on X, Yogi Adityanath said, “On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the former Governor of Rajasthan, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, supreme devotee of Lord Ram, ‘Padma Vibhushan’ recipient, the revered Kalyan Singh ‘Babu Ji’, today in Lucknow, flowers were offered at his portrait and tribute was paid to him.”

“The tenure of the revered ‘Babu Ji’ will always be remembered for taking good governance, development, and the nationalist mission to new heights. He continuously gave meaningful fulfillment to his name by linking it to the ‘welfare’ of Uttar Pradesh. Salutations to his sacred memories!,” he added.

Kalyan Singh passed away on August 21, 2021, at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) in Lucknow due to sepsis and multi-organ failure.

He served twice as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, first from June 1991 to December 1992 and again from September 1997 to November 1999. Singh also served as the Governor of Rajasthan from 2014 to 2019 and held several key organisational positions within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at both the state and national levels.
