The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a yellow alert for Delhi-NCR, forecasting rain and thunderstorms across the region on Tuesday.
According to the IMD, parts of the national capital and surrounding areas are likely to witness rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and hail. Wind speeds may reach 40–50 kmph, with gusts touching up to 60 kmph during the day.
The expected spell of rain is likely to intensify the winter chill, even as daytime temperatures have shown a slight rise in recent days. Night temperatures, however, are expected to remain on the lower side, keeping conditions cold.
Delhi experienced a chilly Republic Day morning on Monday, with temperatures rising gradually through the day. The changing weather pattern follows recent fluctuations typical of the late winter phase.
The weather department has advised residents to exercise caution during thunderstorms and gusty winds, and to stay updated with official advisories.
