IMD predicts light rainfall in Delhi, wet spell may continue next week

Delhi is likely to receive very light to light rainfall today, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Yellow alert’ for the city.

The weather department has predicted a maximum temperature of around 21 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to hover around 7 degrees Celsius.

On Friday morning, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 7.7 degrees Celsius, with air quality remaining in the poor category.

The IMD has also warned that the rainy spell may extend into next week. From January 31 to February 2, very light to light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds of 30–40 kmph is likely. A partly cloudy sky is expected on February 4 and 5, while shallow to moderate fog may persist during morning hours over the next six days.

Dense fog conditions are expected over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and East Rajasthan during the same period.
