Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday distributed over 61,000 appointment letters to newly recruited youth at the 18th Rozgar Mela in New Delhi.
Addressing the programme virtually, the Prime Minister described the appointment letters as an “invitation to nation-building” and reminded the youth of their duty towards the Constitution.
“The beginning of the new year has brought happiness in your lives. With Basant Panchami celebrated yesterday, a new ‘spring’ has begun in your lives as well. Your duty is now linked with the Constitution at a time when the Republic is being celebrated. Yesterday we observed Parakram Diwas on the birth anniversary of Subhash Chandra Bose, and tomorrow is National Voters’ Day,” PM Modi said.
The event was attended by Union Minister Jitendra Singh, along with officers from the Indian Police Service (IPS), the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and defence services.
Recalling the adoption of the national anthem and national song, the Prime Minister said that on this auspicious day more than 61,000 youth were receiving appointment letters, calling it a “resolve to accelerate India to new heights.”
“You will strengthen the nation’s defence, healthcare and education systems, while others will contribute to energy security,” he said.
Congratulating the recruits, PM Modi said connecting youth with skills and employment opportunities has been a key priority of his government. He noted that the Rozgar Mela was launched in “mission mode” to accelerate government recruitment and has become a platform through which lakhs of youth have received appointment letters across departments. Rozgar Melas are being organised at over 40 locations across the country, he added.
Highlighting India’s demographic advantage, the Prime Minister said India is among the youngest nations in the world and the government is working to create more opportunities for youth through trade and mobility agreements with various countries.
He said India has multiple trade agreements with countries in Europe and North America, while FTAs with the US, the UK and the EU are under discussion. An FTA with New Zealand was finalised in December 2025, he added.
“These trade agreements bring new opportunities for India’s youth. In recent years, large investments in world-class infrastructure have generated jobs in sectors linked to construction. India’s startup ecosystem is also growing rapidly,” PM Modi said.
He said India has around two lakh registered startups employing over 21 lakh youth, adding that Digital India has fostered a new economy. India is emerging as a global hub in sectors such as animation and digital media, while the creator economy is expanding rapidly, creating new opportunities for young people.
