PM Modi extends Basant Panchami greetings to the nation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended heartfelt greetings to the nation on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami, invoking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge and arts.

Highlighting the spiritual and cultural significance of the festival, the Prime Minister described Basant Panchami as a celebration dedicated to nature’s beauty and divinity. He expressed hope that the grace of Goddess Saraswati would keep the lives of citizens illuminated with learning, wisdom and intellect.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said,
“Heartfelt greetings to everyone on the sacred festival of Basant Panchami, dedicated to the beauty and divinity of nature. May the blessings of Goddess Saraswati, the deity of knowledge and arts, be bestowed upon all. With her grace, may everyone’s life remain forever illuminated with learning, wisdom and intellect.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended greetings on the occasion. In a post on X, he said,
“Heartfelt greetings to all citizens of the country on the sacred occasion of Basant Panchami. May Goddess Saraswati infuse every life with positive consciousness and wisdom.”

Basant Panchami, also known as Vasanta Panchami or Saraswati Puja, marks the arrival of spring and is dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. The festival is celebrated across different regions of India with diverse traditions and rituals.

The occasion also marks the beginning of preparations for Holika and Holi, which are observed forty days later. The Vasant Utsav symbolises the seasonal transition, celebrated forty days before the full bloom of spring.

Basant Panchami is closely associated with the colour yellow, reflecting the blooming mustard fields and the symbolic connection with Goddess Saraswati. Temples and educational institutions observe the festival by adorning idols of the Goddess in yellow attire and organising special prayers.

Schools and colleges across the country also hold morning prayers and pujas, seeking blessings for knowledge, wisdom and learning.
