Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday hailed the announcement of nine new Amrit Bharat Express trains, calling it a significant step towards improving passenger comfort and strengthening rail connectivity across the country.
Responding on X to a thread by Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Prime Minister said the new services would deliver benefits beyond better travel experience.
“The new Amrit Bharat trains mark a significant step in improving passenger comfort and connectivity. Other benefits include boosting commerce and tourism!,” he said.
Earlier, Vaishnaw announced that nine new Amrit Bharat Express trains would be flagged off soon, further expanding the network of modern passenger trains being introduced by Indian Railways. The initiative is aimed at offering improved amenities and reliable services for long-distance travellers.
According to the announcement, the new trains will enhance inter-state connectivity across multiple regions of the country. One of the services will link Assam with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, while several others will connect West Bengal with Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. The expanded network is expected to significantly strengthen rail links across eastern, northern, southern and western India.
