Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 72nd National Volleyball Tournament on January 4 at 12 noon via video conferencing. The inaugural ceremony will be held at Dr. Sampoornanand Sports Stadium in Varanasi.
The national-level tournament will be conducted from January 4 to January 11 and will see participation from across the country. More than 1,000 players will compete as part of 58 teams representing various states and institutions.
The event is expected to showcase a high standard of competition, sportsmanship and emerging talent in Indian volleyball, bringing together players from diverse regions of the country.
Hosting the prestigious tournament in Varanasi reflects the growing focus on strengthening sports infrastructure and promoting athletic development in the city. It also adds to Varanasi’s profile as a key venue for major national sporting and cultural events.
